Important | Winter Storm Warning and Possible School ClosuresFeb. 07, 2018
At this time, Calgary Board of Education schools will be open as usual on Thursday, Feb. 8, but we are closely monitoring the weather conditions and will provide an update if a decision is made to close CBE schools.
As always, parents make their own decisions about sending their children to school. Please refer to information about busing and transportation in winter weather.
If a decision to close schools is made, parents should watch their email for updates from the CBE. Information about any closures will be posted on the CBE websites and shared with local media. Follow us on Twitter (@yycbedu) as well.
The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance in our decision making.
This morning we had music and gym. Ask me what we worked on.
We were busy scientist and engineers today. We constructed our insulators.
Task-Conduct an invention that is effective in keeping an ice cube frozen for an hour.
Ask me about the process of building my insulator and what I thought worked best. What was the result after 1 hour? Was there more solid or liquid?
Here is a picture our insulator inventions:
We ended our day with drumming. Ask me about this.
Peer Spelling Test Friday.
Have a great night, stay warm.
We started our day with morning meeting, and then continuing our feelings writing. What did I write about? As a writer, we are trying to make connections to ourself and feelings.

Then we were off to gym. What did Mrs. Rowarth work on with us?
We finished our day with creating our design for our insulator invention. Ask what my plan is. Tomorrow is our day to create the insulator.
Task: Conduct an invention that is effective in keeping an ice cube frozen for an hour.
Have a great night.

In math we have been working on place value and base 10 blocks. Ask me these riddles...
I have 21 ones and 3 tens. Who am I? I have 17 ones and 7 tens. Who am I?
Early next week we will be working on constructing an invention to insulate an ice cube for an hour.
Possible materials we are collecting:
-paper plastic styrofoam cardboard paper towels plastic containers popsicle sticks paper bags news paper wool foil cotton balls or wax paper.
Please bring in some of these materials by Monday Feb. 5th.
Peer spelling test Friday.

Have a great long weekend. Check for my new peer spelling words!
See you Monday!
