This afternoon was our first swimming session and the pool was ready for us. Luckily everyone had their swim suit and towel. Remember we go swimming every day except Friday.
This morning on Wonderopolis we learned if we really do hear the ocean in a seashell. Ask me what I learned.
For writing the students learned how to write clues about their Halloween costume, a favorite TV character, a animal, or a video game. They shared their writing with 3 different partners to learn if their clues were specific enough.
In math, we continued to look at the hundreds chart. We looked at what students noticed with the 5 and 10 patterns. We also looked at different patterns and tried to figure out what numbers were missing. For example: 60, 65, 70, _____, _______, 85, ______, 90
17, 22, 27, ______, 37, ______, 47, ______ 100, 95, ______, ______, 80, ______, 70, ______
At home you could practice counting forward and backward by 5's starting at different numbers.
In Science, the students made a kazoo (sorry for the extra sounds at home). After making them we discussed what the students noticed, what energy is used to make sounds, and how can they change the pitch. Please spend some time asking "Science questions" about the kazoo.
