I'm sorry that I have not reminded you that the students have no school tomorrow. When it is report card time that is the one and only thing on the mind. :)
It was back to routine today with book clubs in the morning.
Problem solving day. Ask your child what problem they worked on today. The students that worked with me filled in a chart to keep track of information and in the end the solution involved these numbers and operations 9+8+10+?=30 We looked at different ways to arrive at the unknown numbers. Quite a few students were challenged by this type of question so I would encourage similar questions be practiced at home. Mrs. Roworth's problem solving group are working on an interesting problem involving rice.
We continued with our Ukraine projects--dances were practiced, the girls decorated headbands while others created pysanky.
Regular gym and music classes this afternoon followed up by finishing our peacock art.
No school tomorrow.
The grade 2's are busy getting organized for the annual Stephan's Backpack event. Grade 2's are now collecting items, gently used toys and books. The sale will be held on Dec. 12 all day. The money raised will go towards purchasing items (i.e., toothbrushes, toys, mittens) to fill backpacks for homeless children in the Calgary area. Students are encouraged to bring in their items this week.
