It was the second lesson for in-line skating and the class was certainly excited before and after the session. The final class will be on Thursday morning.
For writing, we continued to work on descriptive vocabulary so that words paint a picture in our mind. The initial activity was everyone drawing a dog based on Mrs. Leonard's description of cute, awesome and adorable. This clearly showed everyone that we all have different opinions of what these words mean.
For math, we continued to work on writing a fraction for a group and seeing the connection to division. We used counters to show what 1/4 of 24, 1/2 of 8 etc was. We ended with a "spicy" problem. Jackson baked 24 dog treats. He gave 1/4 of them to his friend, 1/2 to his teacher and the rest to his neighbor. How much did each get? Doing similar problems at home is great practice.
For Science, the students sketched the different layers of soil. Ask your child for the names of some of the layers (humus, topsoil, subsoil, bedrock )
