It is so hard to believe that we are in December. The first term is almost finished. A new month means a new table group and new pencils and erasers. The students always love this day.
We finished reading, "The Mouse and the Motorcycle." Hopefully we see students take out some Beverly Clearly books.
We did Book Clubs in the morning.
For math, we built numbers and identified place value of each one. For example: 369-- how many ones(9), tens(6), hundreds(3). What is the value of the ones place, tens(60) and hundreds(300)?
We started working on different projects for our Ukrainian celebration. If you are able to help us cook potato pancakes on the morning of the 19th, please let me know. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Today the two group dancers practiced, sashes were made for the boys and flags were painted for decorations.
We ended our day working on our Peacock art.
The grade 2's are busy getting organized for the annual Stephan's Backpack event. Grade 2's are now collecting items, gently used toys and books. The sale will be held on Dec. 12 all day. The money raised will go towards purchasing items (i.e., toothbrushes, toys, mittens) to fill backpacks for homeless children in the Calgary area. Students are encouraged to bring in their items this week.
