Thank you to all of my amazing and supportive parents. I now have 3 of these amazing parents to help with our cooking session on December 19. Thank you!!
Students participated in book clubs and then started a writing project. We are compiling a book of well wishes to Mrs. Leonard's student teacher, who unfortunately because of health issues has had to withdraw. She made an impact on both classes so we hope this book will lift her spirits.
In math, we continued looking at place value. Today it involved trading in. For example: what is is my number when I have 7 hundreds, 15 tens and 19 ones? We did several examples of these. Most students showed understanding and were able to draw a picture or do the trading in their head and write the number.
This afternoon our class participated in this week's Hour of Code worldwide event. They logged on the hourofcode.com/calearn and try their hand at coding. You might find that your child will ask to spend some time doing some coding this evening.
The grade 2's are busy getting organized for the annual Stephan's Backpack event. Grade 2's are now collecting items, gently used toys and books. The sale will be held on Dec. 12 all day. The money raised will go towards purchasing items (i.e., toothbrushes, toys, mittens) to fill backpacks for homeless children in the Calgary area. Students are encouraged to bring in their items this week.
