Today we began our morning by learning about poetry. We talked about rhyming poems today and wrote our own 4 line poems. We are going to do a novel study for the book "Love That Dog" which includes a lot of poetry in it and create our own poetry, which will be inspired by the poems in this book. We will begin reading the novel tomorrow!
In math we began by doing a logic problem with a partner. We also learned about perimeter. We learned how to add perimeter for squares and rectangles.
In the afternoon we reviewed our science tests last week. These have been sent home!
In social studies we had some time to research the climate and geography for India. We will review all the research we found tomorrow.
Have a great night!
We had a great first day back. The children seemed well rested and were eager to get back into the swing of things. In the morning we continued on our Art and Writing assignment. Some students have finished their writing portion and most will finish on Friday. We also went to the gym and played some new games that I learned about at Teacher's Conference. We finished the morning up with Book Club and taking up the math test.
In the afternoon we had drumming, which is a lot of fun. We also stated learning about our next math unit, measurement. Our introductory lesson had us measuring things as small as the height of a book and as long as the length of the hallway. We used measuring tapes, rules, metre sticks and trundle wheels.
I'm back in the gym tomorrow with Mr. Welechuk and Ms. MacDonald is in the classroom.
Happy Valentine's Day!
This morning we finished off our Reader's Theatre performances. We also had drumming this morning.
After recess we wrote our multiplication and division tests. You will get these sent home on Tuesday.
In the afternoon we had a Valentine's celebration. We exchanged Valentine's cards and watched a Valentine's movie. We also got to have some extra recess time this afternoon at the end of the day!
Parents remember that we do not have school again until Tuesday! Enjoy your long weekend!
We had a very productive day in room 70. Most of use have been given feedback on our Art and Writing writing. We will focus on getting finished next week. We also took up all of the math questions and the review and we are having a math test tomorrow.
We also started talking about geography in social studies. We started talking about terms like environment, climate and regions and used that information to start looking at Peru.
I know tomorrow is Valentine's Day so I sent home class lists in case anyone is making personalized Valentines. You could also just write your child's name on them if you are planning on sending Valentines.
Remember book orders are due back by next Friday.
Have a great night.
We had a very busy first day back this week. In the morning we spent some time putting our Art and Writing writing into Google Docs. You can see the descriptive at home by logging into your child's Google account. I will be adding suggestions to their writing throughout the week. I have done so for many already.
During math we spent some time doing a review of multiplication and division. We will take it up tomorrow and look at having a test on Wednesday. I also sent home some math questions that students who didn't finish or were away for should complete for homework.
In the afternoon we wrote our science test on animal life cycles.
New book orders were also sent home today. Please get them in by next Friday.
Thanks very much and have a great evening.
We used the majority of today to catch up on unfinished projects. Most of us were very productive!
We also got to meet with our buddies. We are planning an Olympics Day for 2 weeks from now. We are planning how we could play or do some of the activities that are in the winter olympics. When we are finished planning we hope to be able to share this with the whole school!

We had a really busy day today. We started off with a drumming lesson from our artist in residence drummer at our school. It was awesome and we are looking forward to the next 4 sessions. We also spent a majority of the morning working on the writing of our Art and Writing assignment. Today we picked the 7 sentences that we are going to use. We also started identifying the parts of speech and adding in descriptive words. Our goals is to add an adjective for each noun and an adverb for each verb. We colour-coded the words so it made it easier to track.
In the afternoon we spent some time working on a dividend array problem. I think that most of us are getting pretty good at multiplication and division. We also finished up our bird research. There are a couple of us who are going to have to finish up tomorrow.
Have a great night,
